Cricut Cake Cutting Machine: Overview

A special occasion is coming up soon, and you want to celebrate it by serving a beautiful cake. What are your options?

You could spend hundreds of dollars buying a custom-designed cake from a bakery.

You could spend many hours laboriously cutting shapes from fondant by hand or piping details onto the cake with a pastry bag.

Or you can create your own stunning, custom-decorated cake the easy way, using the Cricut™ Cake cutting machine.

What is Cricut Cake?

Cricut™ Cake is the secret weapon that lets home cake decorators create custom-decorated cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other confections that look as good as the ones made in a professional bakery – sometimes even better!

What is Cricut Cake? It is an electronic cutting machine that cuts intricate decorative shapes from thin edible materials like fondant, gum paste, frosting sheets, cookie dough, molding chocolate, tortillas, cheese, pie crust, and even some soft candies.

The thousands of designs available for the Cricut Cake include:
The designs come on cartridges that plug into a slot on the machine. Each cartridge includes several dozen different designs. How Cricut Cake Works

Here’s an overview of how to use the Cricut Cake machine:
  1. Start with the cutting blade installed and the machine turned on.
  2. Choose a design from the library of Cricut design cartridges. Insert the cartridge in the slot. Put the matching keypad overlay on the keypad, and cover it with the keypad protector.
  3. Brush the 12” x 12” cutting mat with shortening, then use a rolling pin to roll the material you plan to cut into a thin sheet on the mat. (You can also use readymade frosting sheets from Cricut that don't need to be rolled into shape.)
  4. Insert the mat into the machine.
  5. Choose the design you want to cut by pressing the appropriate button on the keypad. You can adjust the size of the design, the cutting area, and other variables.
  6. Press the “Cut” button to start cutting. Cutting the shapes just takes a couple of minutes.
  7. When cutting is finished, gently peel the cut pieces from the cutting mat.
  8. The shape is now ready to apply to your cake, cookie, cupcake, or tart.

Who Should Buy the Cricut Cake?

Reviewers who have purchased and used the machine for cake decorating tend to agree that this is a wonderful aid for someone who is serious about cake decorating.
